When is it time for a new sewing machine?
How many sewing machines have you gone through and when is the time to get a new one?
I've had my current one for over 25 years now...possibly 30 years! I can't remember when my parents bought it for me. For years I had it in a closet and only recently got it out again and have been using it weekly. It's a Kenmore and seems to be working okay.

I have 2 singer sewing machines.. one that is simple one and another is a more complicated.. sometimes i have a hard time trying to figure out how to use the machine with the ins and outs of the thread... but i like the simplier one thats a 1-2 - 3 process

Mine is definitely a low end student type one but it's really hanging in there. I don't know if I have the patience to use one with multiple threads and all those settings. I rarely change my settings on mineyvonne219 wrote: ↑September 7th, 2020, 4:14 pm I have 2 singer sewing machines.. one that is simple one and another is a more complicated.. sometimes i have a hard time trying to figure out how to use the machine with the ins and outs of the thread... but i like the simplier one thats a 1-2 - 3 process

I think modern chinese builds get damaged pretty quickly. So getting one after every 4 or so year is necessity lately. But if you do get the german or japanese builds or local builds, they tend to stay for years like decades.

It depends on whether or not you want a new one. If you don't, then you don't need a new one!

I think If your sewing machine is ruining projects, then it's time to consider your options. Now, if a sewing machine ruins one project, it might be time for a repair rather than a replacement. If the same [spam link removed] is ruining project after project, then it is likely beyond repair.

My parents still have their old one from when I was a kid. It still runs, however not that well lol We did buy a sewing machine years ago but since we rarely used it, we ended up giving it to my dad. He loves tinkering with things & is always sewing something.
To answer the question, best time to buy is when 1- it no longer works or 2- you want an upgrade. Some of the newer models make it easier to do sewing.
