Zero Waste

There is a development of one movement named "Zero Waste". This movement pushes people to make use of the stuff as much as possible and avoiding the waste. What is waste for one can be reused by another person. So it seems like there is definitely a good direction for our used stuff or the existing use of our items. There are many bloggers, podcasters who recently joined this movement and made some resources.

Check out the resource for zero waste: https://zerowaste.com/

Have you tried to follow this approach in your recycling efforts?

That's an interesting concept! Where I used to live there was a resource center and it was mostly used by Girl Scout troops because no one else knew about it. The place will filled with reusable items and any time I asked around for supplies we needed for crafts such as egg cartons or yarn that place was highly recommended. I ideas like this are good for locals since shipping any items would be way too much cost.

I think there is also one more project named Freecycle. Not sure if the project is worldwide or not. US has it in some of it's states. And also the canada where you may often find the recycling projects like this. I think a lot can be done with the recycling stuff like that. Money can be saved in the due process.

I've heard of Freecycle before and I think it depends on the local community if they've set up one or not. Isn't it where you have to get approved first before being included in their Facebook group? Or am I thinking of a different type of group? I didn't get approved, btw, and I have no idea why! That was about 5 years ago or so and maybe things have changed.

That sounds interesting. I did watch couple of videos where people make stuff from totally used up material. I even saw a video, where they made a dream catcher using some used CD, DVD disks.

I have been thinking of giving it a try and I will be checking out other stuff as well. I am sure it's not that hard to learn and even a newbie can do it easily.

An interesting concept for sure! I have been considering trying this idea, as we all got to do our part to look after Planet Earth. If everybody were to think like this, our beaches and the world we know would be a better place.

We follow the R's & include Rethink as well. Rethink what we buy, if we need it, if we can find something in an eco-friendly packaging.
I have not made anything but knew a lady who did the CD/ DVD dreamcatchers (she made me a dolphin). She also made plastic bags out of... plastic bags lol

My only issue with the Zero waste is that I cant make use of it for the electronics and the computer parts. So that is my contention with this type of the projects but apart from that I think for household items it is pretty much worth it.

Obviously this will depend on the electronics you've got lying around but I've seen a project where someone took one of their old (Flatscreen) monitors and repurposed it into a smart mirror. I'm due to replace my monitors soon due to working at home and needing some more screen real estate so that's next on my list to have a try. It looks like a fantastic little project to get stuck into.

I do try my best to keep recycling and reusing where I can though, It's an easy enough thing to do after all and it's helpful to everyone!

Some do require complete overhaul but apart from that I think you can make use of the minimum for most of the parts. A lot of electronics is meant to be thrown away and we can not use it at all.
