Rock Painting Examples

I painted some rocks to give out at my church as prayer rocks and here are examples of some of the designs I did. They are not my original designs, btw! I found them all on Pinterest.

The rocks I found at the Dollar Tree store and they have a waxy coating so you need to put them in a bucket with dishwashing liquid and let them sit overnight to get the wax off. Throw the water outside so it doesn't wax up your drains and then rinse the rocks and allow to dry. I used colored pencils to draw my designs on and then coated them with a protective spray finish.

These are really cool designs! I guess I'm the type that wouldn't buy rocks as we live in a rocky, albeit wooded, area lol We don't have a shortage here. I've even collected a few that looked interesting. What advice do you have for those of us who aren't good at drawing if we wanted to do this? I know for drawing on paper, there is tracing paper. Would that work for rocks?

Tracing paper might work. You can take things out of coloring books and use maybe sewing transfer paper too to get the design onto the rock surface? Maybe?

I really like the whole rock painting theme, i saw one where you can paint the rocks to look like ladybugs.
