Favorite Baby Blanket Pattern?

I think fleece is the ideal material for making baby blankets. Sewing two pieces of fleece and then filling it with fibers or cotton and then sewing it is the ideal way of making baby blankets. I think animal patterns with soft colors are good for baby blankets.
 
A nice soft material that would not make the baby itch. I've seen some material used & I have no idea why they used it!
As for the pattern, a simple one would be ideal. Then you can make several of them to give to the new mom. That is best so she'll have extra around in case one gets dirty or spit up on.
