About this piece: I found a cute knit pattern for a pouch tote bag and although the pattern was easy it took a lot of time to knit. Crochet is faster so I wanted to duplicate the pattern as best I could and this is the final result. This piece is worked continuously with each row going into the next. Use a Safety Pin to keep track of each row beginning.

If you try this pattern please post in this thread if you discover any errors or confusing parts. Let me know how you like it? Copyright 2021 KMO Studio. You may sell items you make using this pattern but do not sell the pattern itself or claim it to be yours.

Supplies:
Size H Crochet Hook for tote
Size G Crochet Hook for Ties
1 Skein - 4Ply Yarn Medium Weight
2 Safety Pins

Finished Size approx. 10” high and 10” wide when fully opened. No gauge necessary.

Directions:
CH 19

Row 1: SC into 2nd ch from hook and across. CH 1 Turn.

Continue SC rows for a total of18 including row 1. At the end of the last row do NOT Ch1 and do not turn.

Starting at the left edge of the square, work 18 Single Crochets evenly.

Then at the bottom of the square, work 18 Single Crochets.

On the right edge of the square, work 18 Single Crochets evenly. 72 Single Crochets Total.

For the first row ONLY work in Back Loops Only to do the pattern below. Subsequent rows will use both front and back loops as normal.

Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch III is worked as follows:
Loop the yarn over the hook, put hook through first stitch and draw another loop through (3 stitches are on hook, leave them there), loop the yarn over the hook, put hook through next stitch and draw another loop through. There are now 5 loops totally on the hook. Draw a loop through all 5 stitches then CH1. Skip Stitch. Continue pattern.

Place a safety pin into the first cluster stitch (not the chain 1) to mark the beginning spot and leave there.
When reaching the safety pin at the end of the row, continue working without slip stitch or turning. Work Pattern for 6” then CH 1 at the end as normal part of pattern.

Next 3 Rows: Single Crochet (putting another safety pin onto the first sc and moving it up after each row) across.

Eyelet Row: *3 DC, CH1, SK ST* repeat between **. There should be 18 Eyelet openings. Do not slip stitch, do not Ch1, just start the next row beginning by working single crochet into the first DC of the eyelet row.

Next 3 Rows: Single Crochet across making sure there are 72 stitches at the end.

Last 3 Rows: Work Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch III Pattern and SL ST to join. Finish off.

TIES (MAKE 2): Using Size G crochet hook CH 110. Working into 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch into each chain down then finish off.

Find the center of one of the sides of the pouch and weave one tie in and out of the eyelets. Tie the ends together in a knot. At the opposite side of the pouch weave the 2nd tie in and out and tie the ends together into a knot. Pull the ties to close.

I love it! Would love to see different colors. What have people used it for?
How is crochet easier? How much time do you think you saved?

Crocheting stitches up faster and if you make a mistake, it's not as noticeable. These can be used as a purse or as a storage bag...or even a bag to put a small gift in.
